MUSIC : Art or Science, or Both?

Thanks to my friend Andre who brought this topic up at facebook, it's simple topic but yet full with complication. Here's my opinion about the question:

From my point of view, an Art is an expression of man's feelings, if one is happy, sad, scared, mad, or being graceful it all can be shown through lots of media, and one of the media is music, therefore music is definitely one of the form of art.

"Mathematics is the art of science", why do they call that? If one explore science deeply, than one will find beauty of its own, similar like watching one of Shakespeare's play or enjoying the "complication" of Poulenc's part. Just like creating a phytagoras formula, creating a music part has a challenge of its own. Even Beethoven gone cuckoo like John Nash when he's trying to finish his work. Music need calculation to make a perfect beat, and need a taste of art (which is represented by notes) to interpret the emotion that the composer want us to know (or hear).

From the two facts above, my conclusion is MUSIC = ART + SCIENCE (aka. both)....CMIIW ya, just my two cents......
